Meta title: Funding & Support | Moonshot Press
Meta description: How Moonshot Press is funded: subscriber-supported, independent of advertisers and party money — and how to support the mission directly.
How we're funded
Moonshot Press is currently self-funded — supported directly by Shimon Waldfogel and by reader subscriptions through Substack. No grant or foundation money is involved.
What we don't take
As of today, Moonshot Press has not accepted advertising revenue, grant or foundation funding, or funding from any political party or candidate.
Why this matters
An outlet that answers to advertisers or algorithms answers to them, not to readers. Being self-funded and subscriber-supported is what lets us take positions — in favor of constitutional democracy, equal human dignity, freedom of the press — without worrying about who that costs us. This isn't a slogan; it's the same commitment Article VI of our Constitution makes about distributed power: no funder, platform, or algorithm controls what Moonshot Press covers or how.
Research Partner: The Institute for Salutogenesis
The Institute for Salutogenesis is a nonprofit also run by Shimon Waldfogel, and serves as Moonshot Press's research partner on the family and community health work under Project 2026. We disclose this relationship directly, in keeping with the same transparency commitment that governs everything else on this page.
